Picture in Picture overlay no longer fades in or fades out reliably
I got a new iPad for Christmas (10th generation, 17.6.1) with the latest version of iMovie (3.0.5), and found almost everything was how I was used to on my old iPad with the 2019 version of iMovie (2.2.8) except for one seemingly small yet crucial thing: Picture in Picture doesn't fade out. It used to be that the end of the PiP clip/image would begin and end with 4 frames of fade out/fade in, and if the end of the clip/image was on top of a transition, then it would just cut to it appearing cleanly. However, in the new version of iMovie I found, the fade out/fade in is...simply gone. When I export the project, there is no fade at all. This is extra strange because the fade CAN sometimes be observed during editing, yet this effect cannot be exported. This is either a glitch that is making fade out/fade in not work on export, or it was removed and it still being visible sometimes during editing is the glitch, like a ghost of a feature.
In this video down here, I show the fade out working while over a flat clip, even though it is not supposed to in this version, and the four frames of fade out. Then it shows how the clip works when over a transition, just cuts cleanly, like it is supposed to. Then it shows the issue, the PiP being put back in the same spot it was in before, not above the transition, only now the fade is gone. Completely gone. For no discernible reason. And no, even when the fade is "working," it still exports without the fade at all. What do I do?/Will this be fixed?
