My phone is connected and I can make calls and everything works perfectly fine but it won’t play music through the auxiliary system. I have an older car Nissan Sentra 2011 but when I plug it into my mom‘s car which is a few years newer , it works perfectly fine and so does my older phone plays it

My wife’s 15 is doing same thing. My phone works in her car but hers won’t at all. Compared all settings between phones and they are same but CarPlay is no go. Have tried other cables and in my truck but car play doesn’t register when plugged in.
If it works using the same type of connection and the same cables, etc. in other vehicles, but does not work in yours, I suggest the problem is most likely your car.
Is the USB port in the car USB A or USB C? If it's a USB A port, you need to keep in mind that not all USB A-C cables are created equal. Many are 'charge only' and do not carry data.
