What causes iPad Pro keyboard covers to detach?

Has anyone dealt with this kind of a problem? I have no idea why it happened and I imagine Apple won’t cover it. Does anybody use anything like a heat gun to try to reseal it?

The cover material does indeed appear to be delaminating - potentially due to failure of the adhesive. Using a "heat gun" is perhaps inadvisable - unless you (a) detach the keyboard cover from the iPad, and (b) are prepared to subsequently consign the item to the bin. Many plastics/vinyls do not respond well to localised heating - or will melt.

If your keyboard cover is within its one-year warranty (noting that in some countries, such as EU Member States, your statutory warranty period may be longer), you might be best advised to seek assistance from the retailer where the item was purchased. If purchased directly from Apple, a visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store might be your best option. If assessed to have a warranty defect, the product might be replaced:
