I’m having the same problem with my iPhone 16 Pro. The earpiece speaker sounds flat and lacks bass, making voices during calls sound unnatural and less clear. Multimedia audio works fine, but the issue is very noticeable during phone calls. I’ve tested this with other models like the iPhone 15 Pro, 14 Pro, and even the 11 Pro. All of those sound much better, with deep and rich tones. The 16 Pro is clearly different, and the problem is obvious.
I’ve had the phone for a week, and I already sent it in for warranty service. Apple replaced the device with a brand-new one without giving me a reason. They said it was a “preventative replacement,” but another consultant told me that’s impossible and that there must have been an issue. Unfortunately, the new device has the exact same problem. I’ve been assigned a case with a support specialist, and we are trying to figure it out, but this whole situation is frustrating.
The issue seems to be with frequencies below 250 Hz, which are critical for voices to sound natural and full. Older models like the 11 Pro and 15 Pro handled this much better. On the 16 Pro, the sound is clearly cut off, making voices sound flat and lacking warmth. I’ve seen other users on Reddit and Apple forums reporting similar issues, such as low earpiece volume, no bass during calls, and sound quality that reminds me of a phone damaged by water. Some even say it sounds like a phone worth $50.
One of the Apple technicians told me today that maybe my hearing is too sensitive and that I need to “get used to it.” This is completely unacceptable. I filed a complaint against him and had a two-hour call with another representative who seems more helpful. I’ve been dealing with this issue for a week now, and I’m getting tired of it.
I’m already filming a video about this for my YouTube channel to make this public. Apple needs to address this issue because it’s not just my phone. It’s either a design flaw or a software issue, and it’s affecting many users. I encourage everyone to check their phones and report the issue to Apple. If we don’t, we’ll be stuck with a product that doesn’t meet the high standards Apple is known for.
