Synchronising Apple Music libraries between two computers and iPhone
I have just taken out a new Apple Music subscription after not having had one for a while. I had around 170 CDs read in on two different Macs and I have now read in some more, but I am having two problems synchronising them in my Apple Music library:
- If I read in the CD on one computer, the album appears on the other machine so it looks ok at first. But when I try to play or download the album on the other computer, I get a message "Allow this computer to use Apple Music?" and that the computer was used with "a different Apple account" (which is incorrect because they have both always been used with the same Apple account). Anyway I click on "Transfer" as prompted, but then I get another error: Could not purchase “null”. An unknown error occurred (1010). The album does not play or download.
- On some albums read in on one computer, some tracks play but others are greyed out on the other machine- it seems to be random which ones get greyed out. See example screenshot.
- On the iPhone, the albums usually appear but sometimes they don't. And sometimes tracks are missing or greyed out. See screen shots from one of the computers and the iPhone. There are two Bryan Adams albums on the computer but only one on the iPhone. King Crimson Red has tracks missing on the iPhone. Same tracks are greyed-out on the All About Eve album as on the Mac Mini
This is what I have tried so far:
- De-authorising all the computers from Apple Music (there were 5 from years back) and re-authorising these two computers only
- Un-ticking the "Sync Library" box on each computer and re-ticking it again
The devices are:
iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019 running macOS Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)
Mac Mini (Late 2012) running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7
iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 18.1.1
Hope you can help. This is a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.
