How to find all possible triggers for HomeKit accessories
Maybe someone out there can take pity on me as I'm losing my everlovin' mind. I have a Hunter Cavera II fan/light combo unit. Had it for ~4yrs but fairly recently (maybe aligned with my upgrade to iOS/tvOS/iPadOS 18 release?) the light module on this unit starts going off at all hours of the night. Nothing says hello world like your light turning on at 2am full blast. I have a 2yr old and my first thought was how did he mess up something in HomeKit like this? haha but I'm not sure what else to do. I've checked everywhere I can think of for any HomeKit schedules or Shortcuts that may have inadvertently been created and nothing. I rarely, if ever have used them and figured I'd just remove the fan from HomeKit entirely and add it back in. That should purge any gremlins right? Wrong...Just this morning it was a 5am wake up call. It's not the same day or same times and to be honest I'm not sure if there is any funny business going on during the day. You're more apt to think you left a light on than it turned on by itself. I've not shared my home access with anyone save my spouse, I've restricted the home hub to be my AppleTV 4K (3rd Gen) though it didn't solve the problem (I have a few HomePod Mini's in my house). I can't think of what else to do. Because the light responds to both its remote and HomeKit commands as expected, thinking there is something wrong electrically seems unlikely to me. Far more believable to me is that something in software is causing it to turn on or off. I'm blaming HomeKit but no idea if it could be the fan somehow. Working with Hunter well, let's just say I haven't had any meaningful response from their team yet. I've tried the Controller for HomeKit app but realized the logs Apple provides really isn't all that useful. Please help! You'll be satisfied to know you're saving my marriage as I'm not sure how many more times my wife will amicably wake up and an ungodly hour to an artificial sun blasting over our heads.
