Compatibility between newer Mac Mini and LMP WHP-1314 number keyboard

I recently bought a Mac Mini after using my iMac for many years. Everything went well in the set up except for compatibility with a LMP WKP-1314 "number" keypad. The Mac Mini software recognized the device as a keyboard which it really isn't. It is a number board using all the number keys you would see on a complete keyboard but is missing the keys required to make it recognizable to the software. Is there some kind of work around to allow the software to recognize this device?
