I cant hear recording unless I turn noise gate off?

I use Noise Gate to voice record and a mic with separate headset on New Mac-pro and Garageband and have sound hiss in background, and when i replay I cant hear the recording at all unless i turn noise gate off?!

GarageBand not picking up audio All of a sudden GarageBand won’t pick up any audio. In the mac settings it will pick up both my usb mic and the internal mic fine however, in GarageBand it won’t pick up either. It was picking up both last week and working fine but it’s suddenly stopped today. I use it regularly and never had a problem before. I have tried/checked: restarting both the MacBook and garageband unplugging - re plugging in the mic etc. The privacy settings are correct the input settings are correct The latest versions are running Any help/insight would be great thanks!

GarageBand recording audio cuts out above certain decibel When recording audio on Garageband, it doesn't record audio above a certain decibel. I've tried resetting controls and I can record audio through the same equipment for other apps with no issues. It's just an issue on GarageBand. I don't know how to fix this. So you have to adjust the noise gate volume. Sliding the adjuster from 0 to 50 allows you to know how far you can test to see what fits the recording best.

The lower, the most sound needed through mic to be heard through GarageBand.
