iPad won’t update, unsure of what to do next

As far as I’m aware, the main issue is surrounding around storage. Problem is, I’ve got nothing I can offload or delete left. Every single dang app I was able to offload I did. Yet applications are STILL taking up too much storage!!!! I just tried using my computer to do the update, but I keep getting an error, and it freezes my iPad as it’s trying to install the update. So now I gotta wait until it dies or something. Fantastic. I’m so lost.

If your iPad isn’t recognised when connected, try using a different USB port; if your computer has both USB-C and USB Type-A ports, try a Type-A port. Otherwise, this support page should help with troubleshooting connection difficulties:

I followed the steps and now I’m stuck on the “plug tablet into computer” part. iTunes doesn’t seem to recognise my tablet is plugged in. Apple Devices sees it, but it’s trying to force me to restore it. I don’t know if that’s a good idea, I have a lot of files that I don’t want to risk losing

Well, if you have been doing regular backups you won’t lose anything. And you sync to iCloud you can re-sync all of that back.
