I've found that the usual codes like your minus sign that work in big search engine do not work for the in-forum search function here.
Apple are not alone: I encounter many in-site search function that show the same limitation.
A site-delimited search string in a regular search engine might be more productive. You can restrict a search to just these forums by starting the search string with:
site:discussions.apple.com
or limit to Apple Support with:
site:support.apple.com
noting that there is no space between the colon folowing "site" and the "d" in "discussion.
You can further limit results by adding a quoted phrase like "reset SMC," useful when searching Support
Search for Mail questions is more troublesome here. Mail is different for each Apple device and treated separtately. For many devices, it is best to look/ask in the main device topic list: iPhone; iPad; Apple Watch; Vision, etc. For Mac computers, its best to look in the forum section for the specific macOS version:
macOS - Apple Community
If you've not found the forum site map yet (Apple tucks it three levels down) you may wish to bookmark it:

As our mods will not respond here, you can contact them by email. The mail address is listed several times in the Terms of Use document for the forums:
