iMovie Projects have disappeared

Happily working away with iMovie. It crashed, and on reload, most of all my projects have disappeared.

The iMovie library is still accessible (it is in an external HDD). When I show package contents, they are all there.

I have rebooted, reinstalled iMovie, and pointed iMovie at the external drive library. It still does not show all the projects.

Desperately need help please - so much work has gone into these!

How can I get them back?
