This seems to be an ongoing issue with Instagram. Apple doesn't own Meta, nor their app. You should definitely complain to Meta about this. Since you know their app uses your battery too much, when not using the app, until Meta releases an update to fix their buggy app, force close the app. This will prevent it from eating up your battery.

To Force Close an App, with you finger on the bottom of the screen, swipe up slowly, about half way up the screen until you see the App Switcher. Find the Instagram app and using your finger, slide the up upwards and it will fully close.
