Phone 16 Text Message Volume Issue

I have the ring tone turned all the way down but still my text message come across LOUD. when i look at Settings>Sounds & Haptics it looks like the Ringtone and Alerts work off of the same level of sound... or they should but do not. HELP

i appreciate you responding but i do not have a Volume Limit (option) on my iphone 16 under Settings>Sounds & Haptics. right now i do have the ringtone and alerts in the Sounds & Haptics set for middle. the issue is the text messages are always louder than my phone rings. any other suggestions???

If you have a hearing or sound issue on your device then please try some of these processes to set it right

If you only hear through speakerphone mode --> If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support

If the above options do not mitigate the issues then Contact your carrier and then Contact Apple Support

Limit the speaker volume · Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Volume Limit. · Turn on Limit Maximum Volume, then drag the slider to specify the maximum volume.
