iMovie update failure on MacOS Sequioa 15.0.1

Hello! I recently updated by macbook pro to MacOS Sequioa 15.0.1. Turns out, my iMovie version is pretty old (10.3.5) and is not compatible with my current OS. It says I have to update iMovie before I am able to use it again, and it has a giant white 'prohibition' symbol over the icon. However, when I tried to update the app, it tells me that it could not download the update. I have tried to update the app over and over again, but it tells me the same thing every time. I have tried to move iMovie to the trash can, but I got a popup saying that iMovie cannot be moved to the trash because it needs to be updated. I've also tried to uninstall iMovie from the app store, but the 'delete app' button doesn't do anything. Please help me fix this, I really need access to iMovie.

Hi,

Try the following procedure to obtain the highest iMovie version that your Mac OS will run:

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not

successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
