Recent claim of Pegasus software use by a Scammer

I recently receive an email from a scammer, with a clear header saying that I am hacked. looks like its from a syndicate.

Saying that there is use of pegasus software, and its ability to install on android, Microsoft or MacOS or IOS products and works well.

is it still true that pegasus software still works well and successfully on apple products?

For those that don't believe it is part of the Apple provided Frameworks and is not anything suspicious, you can see for yourself. You don't have a Finder in iOS to view the system folder structures, but you can see the included Private Frameworks here showing it was including starting in iOS 15:

https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/Filesystem:/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks

Also on the Mac, it is an essential part of the OS and has nothing to do with nefarious software that people always think they have installed by a hacker on their device. Both platforms share many of the same Frameworks. For those interested in seeing them on your Mac, go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder and enter: /system/library/PrivateFrameworks.

That being said, iPhone’s do sometimes have contain files relating to Pegasus configurations. It can happen!

It is supposed to happen because it is part of frameworks have been in the OS for a very long time, BUT it certainly is not the Pegasus that you are thinking of. There are also drivers for Pegasus hard drives and you do realize that Pegasus is also a brand of Hard Drives. The Pegasus Frameworks available on all Apple devices has nothing to do with the mercenary software referred to in the OP's post. No need to even make that connection as it is not factual.

Many times users will dig around in Analytics and find references to Pegasus, Stingray, Roots, etc and immediately come to the conclusion that their device is hacked or someone has installed some nefarious software. Those are all valid references found on all devices and many of those same logs have been inherited from the UNIX backbones developed decades ago.

That exact same Hey Pervert scam has been going around for many months now and has also been posted here many times. It is a complete scam and you have not been hacked and they have absolutely zero video or any other information about you.

It does not cost them anything to send out those emails and is only attempting to scare you. It is all profit for them even if 1 person falls for it, but likely they make a huge amount of money simply by scaring people.
