iOS 18.1.1 How to copy/paste hand drawn pictures from notes with transparent background?

Before I updated my phone, I used to draw doodles in notes and copy/paste them into my Instagram stories. They would always paste with a transparent background.

Now that I've updated, pasted doodles are on a white background. Is there a workaround or another way I can do this? I know Instagram stories has a drawing function as well, but it doesn't have as many options for brushes and colors as notes which is why I prefer doing it through notes. I've also tried saving my notes as a picture into my camera roll and then saving the doodles as a sticker, but it blurs the edges of the doodles and doesn't look great.

Example below: the word "nyc" was copy/pasted but it's on a white background when before, it would be just the word without the white.

Got it!!! Instead of copying the whole image, you need to highlight the doodle/drawing, then copy and paste it on instagram so you get the transparent version! Lmk if still unclear!!

Which app did you use to make the transparent background?

When you copy and paste an image with a transparent background into another app, the app may not support transparency, or it could automatically apply a default background color (like white). Some apps may not handle transparent images properly, converting the transparent areas to white or another color when the image is pasted.

To ensure transparency is preserved:

You may need to save the image as a PNG file and then try pasting to other apps.

I’ve had the same issue as well. It was just more of a fun feature where we used to be able to draw something in the Notes app, then use the select pen or lasso pen to select the drawing or word that we’ve written now and then paste it into a photo open in the Instagram editor. I used to do that all the time, until the update, and now anytime I try to paste a drawing or a word it pastes with a full white box. It was just really easy and convenient. There’s no other convenient way to get that style, preserve the quality of the image, and have it paste with a transparent background. It doesn’t seem to be an Instagram thing as the issue came with the update?
