How to eliminate obsolete email address?

I've just received an email from Apple Account titled Keep your Apple Account safe and secure.

It was sent to me at an obsolete email address on a domain which I have given up.

This address is not in my Apple Account; at least, I've searched my account and can't find it there.

How do I get Apple to stop using it?

It is getting hard to tell truth from fiction these days. My instinct is to say phishing but then I see recent threads like this one: Is this a phishing email? - Apple Community which seems to be specific to Australian users.

Old address could mean some scammer has an outdated address for you, but it could also mean that you have a notification email address that needs updating.

Thanks for that information. I couldn't see anything suspicious in the address from which the message came, nor in the addresses in the links within the message (all seemed to go to c.apple.com). Interesting that you bring up Australian users; I bought my first Apple device in New Zealand, which AFAIK is served from Apple Pty Ltd in Australia. But I can't find any specific reference to 'notification' email address(es) in my profile and there is only one email address at all there – which is not the one to which the Apple email was sent.

Are there any Apple Australia members or volunteers on here who might shed light on this issue?
