How to turn off replace recording

I don't know how this turns on without my giving a command but Repeat Recording is always on. I start recordings an audio track and it endlessly recycles wherever I stop recording. I have put the button for it on my toolbar after taking it off and out it back on again to toggle it and nothing works. I can't record anything without the track recycling on its own.
