iMovie 10 - expand or contract video line in relation to audio line

MacBookPro- 14.6.1

New to iMovie. I recorded video only of Zoom call using Quicktime, about 1 hour long. For some reason, QuTm will not record sound of Zoom, so I recorded sound using Audio Hijack.

Got both into iMovie, and was able to align a starting point for sound and video. But at the end of the hour, the video mouth movement is about 2 seconds later than the corresponding sound.

So I need to either proportionally squeeze the video line to be a little faster/shorter, or stretch the sound line to be a little slower/longer. Either would be good.

How can I do that? Detailed instructions would be appreciated; new to iMovie. Thank you.

By the way, anyone know why Quicktime will not record the sound on a Zoom call, but will record vid and audio of anything else playing on the computer screen?

Hi,

First, expand out your timeline by using the slider located above and to the right of the timeline. Then Control-click on the audio clip , or video clip, and select Show Speed Editor from the drop down menu.  That will reveal a

speed adjustment slider handle in the upper right hand corner of the clip.  Sliding to the left speeds up the clip; sliding to the right slows it down.  Try making a slight adjustment to the speed of the audio clip by sliding the handle.  You can do this same procedure with the video clip as well, to slightly speed it up or slow it down to match the audio. You may need to do a Modify/Split clip at the point where the audio just starts getting out of sync, and then adjust the speed of the split off segment to bring the audio back into sync.

As for why QuickTimePlayer won't reord the Zoom audio, it might be because the Zoom audio contains a codec that is not compatible with QTP.
