Mini won't recognize a superdrive since the last update .

I believe the last update compromised my Mini. It's a late 2014 dual core Intel i5, running Monterey 12.7.6. I use it as a server to store music and stream to the various nodes around the house. Rather than stream commercially, I buy CDs and rip them to a hard drive attached to the Mini. That part of the system works perfectly, but when I try to rip a CD, the Mini simply ignores the Superdrive. The super drives (I have 3) work perfectly on my MacBook Pro.
