Podcast loses place every time Apple Watch announces anything while running
Listening to a podcast while running is almost unusable on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 with watchOS 11.1:
- Every time Activity app announces anything (like running pace, milestone, ...) Podcast stops playing
- When you go an press play again on the "media screen" of the Activity app, the podcast starts again from the previously saved timestamp — not from the place where it stopped
Note: I am playing from Watch and do not have iPhone with me.
There are three awkward workarounds:
- Every time after continuing the podcast, you can press "forward 15s" button as many time as needed to get back to right place
- While running, you can swipe to the "media screen" of the Activity app every few minutes, press top, and press play again. This saves a new timestamp. With this you need to press "forward 15s" less times to find the right place (podcast will continue from this new "save point")
- While running, whenever the watch announces anything (like running pace), you quickly swipe to the "media screen" and press stop. If you manage to do this quickly enough while the announcement is still playing, you'll create a "save point" and can continue playing from there after the announcement ends.
Such workarounds should not be needed — this is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed.
Likely the same bug affects Audible while having an Activity and some OS event occurs. For example, if I am on a walk (with outdoor walk activity) and listen to an audio book on Audible, it jumps back to previous "save point" when I arrive home (likely because Watch detects my home network).
