Apple Studio Display fragile glass expensive to repair - any options?

I have one of the new 27" Studio Displays, the cover glass of which has splintered due to a very low key bump along the edge while moving my MBP alongside it.

The actual display panel is bonded to the exposed glass cover panels in these so the repair quotes I'm getting are around 2/3rd of the cost of a whole new display.

Does anybody know whether these panels are truly glued to the LCD panel or if bundling the cover glass with the LCD panel is just a parts sales SKU decision? If they're not actually glued, I'll be looking into it more to see if I can source the glass panel or a close enough substitute alone.

It is like the post 2012 iMacs (2012 - 2020) -- the glass and LCD were fused into 1 unit.

If the glass got broken -- the only to fix it IS - replacing the whole panel.

Feel free to Google, regarding the tear-down/how it was constructed.

You can bring it to Apple to get a quote for the repairing cost -- or

DYI (Highly discourage) --

even the part from Amazon can get me a little heart burn.
