“Phantom” HomeKit Alerts using Ecobee Video Doorbell

My ecobee video doorbell is set up in HomeKit and the settings for range and sensitivity are properly set up in the ecobee app. However, I receive “phantom” motion alerts from the video doorbell in HOMEKIT. I don’t get it. Shouldn’t HomeKit provide alerts that the Ecobee App generates?
