Deleting books from Apple library

Does anyone know how to get rid of books from my library? Recently updated to iOS 18 something…..impossible to delete books from library. I want them GONE….not hidden, not saved to the ffn cloud, not shared to some place. Why is it so **** difficult? Simple request. Been reading and trying all the instructions to delete them and can not do it. Help this frustrated 64yo get his library cleaned up. I can be reached at 1**********@gmail.com.
