I am looking to possibly buy a Mac Mini M4....what kind of storage can i buy that will work for it? I was hoping to buy it tomorrow on Black Friday. What is the most bang for the buck? I was going to get a 2 Tb SSD, but I have no idea what works with it. Thanks!

I strongly recommend www.macsales.com. Because they specialize in Macs everything they sell is designed to work. Don't focus on saving a couple of bucks, focus on getting the correct solution for your specific needs. As you have not stated what you needs are for additional storage it is difficult to help you any further.

The M4 Mac mini has three multi-purpose USB-C ports on the back that support
Any of these (except DisplayPort) can be used to attach a SSD, and the Mac will select the protocol to use based on what you plug in.
It has two single-purpose USB-C ports on the front that support
but not USB4 or Thunderbolt.
It is easy to go from USB-A to USB-C if needed.
You cannot upgrade internal storage on a M4 Mac mini, except by ordering the Mini with more storage to begin with.
Not in any practical sense. The M4 Mac mini has neither internal drive bays nor internal slots for M.2 SSDs.
Almost any external storage (ssd or hdd) with proper connector (usbc or 3) will work.
Get yourself 2-3-4 tb or as you wish - for the bucks.
