cano scan 8800f and sequoia 15.1

I'm trying to reactivate my Cano Scan 8800F scanner but now I use an M1 Mac Mini with Sequoia 15.1 and just found out at the Canon site that they no longer support the scanner. No new drivers. Is there a possibility that an old driver might run the scanner safely on Sequoia 15.1? I would hate to buy a new scanner presently, this one, hardly used, has always done a terrific job.

First, ignore the Canon software and try scanning withImage Capture, a part of macOS already on your Mac. I use it for scanning exclusively as I find if far more reliable and faster than any apps suppled with a scanner:

VueScan Professional has supported the Canon CanoScan 8800F for a very long time without any need for Canon software or drivers. The current one-time purchase of VueScan Professional is 149.95 USD. I bought it in 2010 for 80 USD and have never paid an ungrade fee to stay current through macOS 15.1.1. VueScan documentation.

I currently use a Canon LIDE 400 scanner that is supported via USB in Apple's built-in AirPrint. I have procrastinated the purchase of a slide/photo scanner.

I have tried to get my Canon LIDE 400 to scan under macOS 15.1.1, without success. Tried "Image Capture" and Canons "IJ Scan Utility", and now also "VueScan" - they all either stall or return quickly and "empty" after pressing a Scan-button in the UI without any error feedback. I have installed/added the scanner in Printers & Scanners, also looks ok in Local Network under Privacy and Security. Any ideas?
