Migration from IMac to Mac Mini

I used the migrating tools but noticed that it brought over my external HD My external drive was being used as my HD for my iMac. The internal drive on the iMac would not support a new OS as it was a 2017iMac. Am I safe to delete it ? under locations it shows Mac Mini and Macintosh HS both look to have the same files.
