Unable to attach Photo from hidden album in WhatsApp on my iPhone 14 after iOS 18.1 update

After updating to the new system iOS 18.1 (iPhone 14), in Whatsapp I cannot attach a photo from the Hidden album to a message. I have enabled full access everywhere (I hope), but when I want to attach photo from Hidden album Whatsapp doesn't show this album in the list... I tried some support but they recommended me to wait for Whatsapp update. Can someone advice me correct way?

It seems that there’s been no response to the questions raised on the 25 November raised bu IceKey!

I am experiencing exactly what IceKey has explained. This isn’t a WhatsApp problem, it’s been created by the iOS update mentioned & should therefore be rectified by Apple. If not, is it not possible to advise us what we should do to any alterations in the settings to overcome this?

As a footnote, in iMessages, it is possible to access directly the hidden photo album which is visible under collections/utilities/hidden, which is no longer the case for WhatsApp!

I appreciate your answers, but they still do not solve the problem with the Apple update.

I had Macbook in my signature, but I've been writing about an iOS problem (not MacOs) since the beginning. Why write everything on the phone when I have a computer on my desk? What is the difference?

Still I'm not sure if we're understand each other. I will describe you two situations. BEFORE the update, all you had to do was click on add a photo, select any album and assign a photo. Including photos from the Hide album. AFTER the update, the Hide album disappeared from the list of photo albums. I'm talking about the organization of the album list. Not about access or anything else.

That's what I'm trying to ask here. Why is the organization of the photo albums changed like this after the update and can I change it? And I'm asking here on the Apple community forum because it's a problem after an Apple (iOS) update. Not Whatsapp.

And no. Before the update to iOS 18.1 (18.1.1), I unlocked the Skryte album using face ID.

Thirdly. Why save photos in files and folders, that is, in another place on the phone, when you can just hold the photo in the phone gallery and select hide...? I don't mean it in a bad way, but I'm looking for advice with a specific problem. Not for advice on what you think other users will appreciate or not. I am not asking about security against third parties

In short - everything happened after an update from Apple. And I still accept the possibility that I'm doing something wrong somewhere, for example in the settings.

Thank you for answer, but I'm sorry it's a misunderstanding. Before the update - on iPhone, not MacOS, I could attach any image from my gallery to a Whatsapp message, even the Hidden album. After the update, the image folders were reorganized. I can see all albums, I can attach any image to the message - except for images from the Hidden album, because the Hidden album is not visible in the menu. The Hidden album is really hidden, I think - invisible in the menu. :) I can't find a way to make the album visible in the menu so I can attach a picture from it to a message.

The hidden album has its specific function precisely so that I don't have to copy, move the hidden pictures anywhere else... I'm still talking about iOS, not MacOS (I don't use whatsapp very often on my Mac Book).

And I tried to ask on whatsapp support too, but still no answer. First I'm trying to solve it in Apple forums, because it happened all after Apple update.

WhatsApp people would know more about this. But I'm pleased that Photos doesn't make hidden pictures visible for people using other apps-- that would seem to defeat the idea of "hidden."

You can Export a picture you see in the Hidden view to a folder, maybe on the Desktop. The you can upload it where you like, and then trash it. That way you have more control over your hidden stuff.

It was't an actual misunderstanding-- you specifically listed the MacBook in your signature. But I imagine most people would be happy that Hidden files are not revealed by 3rd party apps. I'm curious-- did you have to enter a password to see them in WhatsApp? The solution is the same, I think. Save pictures in the Files app, and load from there.

Perhaps WhatsApp's lack of response is an indication of what you can expect from their support. I'm not sure how reasonable it is to ask another company's users to solve a WhatsApp problem.
