Track view in GarageBand iPad flawed

A glaring deficiency: while recording from a single source (for example, my usb mic), GarageBand for iPad doesn't allow for Track View. For overdubs, the position of previous tracks is sheer guesswork. Unprofessional.

I realize there's a workaround while recording a single track through a multi-channel interface ( creating one additional "dummy" track does the trick).

Track View is part of what makes GarageBand an incredibly useful tool. Why exclude it from single-channel sessions? Apple engineers can fix this. Please do.
