i dropped my apple watch and it conveniently just start snowing so its probably under snow. it still shows up in find my but im not able to get it right now. theres a 30% chance of snow stopping in about an hour, but there’s a 65% chance that it’ll rain right after. i can’t go out to look for it for another 5 hours. its expected to snow 2 inches. is there any chance the watch will still work?

There's a chance, but there's no way to be certain. An Apple Watch has water resistance, but whether that will hold after several hours in melting snow and rain none of us here can say with certainty. You'll just have to hope.

Instead of waiting, maybe try to retrace your steps, gently brushing the snow aside with a broom?

Yes, because you can swim with it and even measure your performance at it.
I do it many hours a week without the smallest trouble.
