After Sequoia my Asustor NAS does not connect at all, I urgently need my data

Hi all, I read a lot about Timemachine disconnecting from NAS disks, but my NAS has fully become unconnectable, allthough password is correct and it shows in Finder. Any ideas for me to solve this? It is a work office so I urgenlt need data (can get it from my cloud backup but downloading several TB will not be an option that is fast enough.

Make sure macOS is completely up to date. I have seen reports that the macOS 15.1 update patch fixes a lot of network related issues including some TM backups on a NAS.

You should also check with the Asustor people for any firmware/software updates for their device. And check with them to ensure macOS 15.x Sequoia is compatible with that device, especially for TM backups.

There is another larger thread on this forum related to TM backups on a NAS (most are regarding Synology, but maybe those posts would provide some useful tips & information for you).

Also, macOS keeps a few TM backup snapshots on your boot drive hidden away from view. These local APFS TM snapshots can be used to restore data as well if the version of the file you need was around when those local snapshots were made. Just click on the Time Machine icon (if you have it displayed on the menubar) and select "Enter Time Machine" so you can navigate the local backup snapshots stored on your boot drive.
