Computer is stuck in loop after trying to install updates

Update popped up, so I did. It's been a while. Got a message afterwards it could not update this computer. Now, every time I start up the computer it tries to update. I will not get out of this loop. I just want the old system back. It was fine before I clicked update. I believe it is OSX 10.13.6. Its a intel mac Pro.

I tried hold "D" down for dianostics with no luck.

Can someone help? Thank you

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

Okay, MisterMarco, i’ll try… 1, resetSMC: press power button to shut mac pro down, unplug power cord/cable from back/rear of Mac pro… leave it unplugged for 10 mins or so… plug power cord/cable back into Mac pro… press power button to start up, Immediately hold down Apple+ Option+p+R keys together for 3-4 chimes/bongs then let go of all keys after #4.. let computer start up as per usual.. otherwise try safe mode, reboot, holding down “shift” key until you see “safe mode” on monitor/screen.., or restarting from Recovery partition: reboot, hold down Apple+R together until you see language screen pick one, continue, to access mac os X tools, move arrow to top center of screen and click..

that’s all i have for you for now
