Time Machine stops at 50% M1 Max Sequoia - Waiting to finish first backup

For about a month I have tried whatever with my back up disc because somewhere in October 2024 my Time Machine stopped backing up. Tried excluding folders, tried erasing the disc and starting new.

Tried all tips I could find.

After erasing the disc and creating a new time machine backup disc Time Machine would go to 50% through and then quit and say 'Waiting to finish first backup'

The one that worked (today) is the one Olliebolle gave in 2021, I don't seem to be able to link to it, but cheers to him (it was in this thread) He even left the link for Save Mode. Thanks man!

I started up in Safe Boot and then ran the Backup again. This time it flew through the backup and finished wonderfully.

Just wanted to put it out there if any of you have this issue.

Good luck.

Thanks Leroy,

Although it is good that I can force a backup now, in safe mode.. in normal mode it still doesn't go through.

AI recommends me to reinstall Sequoia just to make sure there's no issue there.

It says the issue is likely a software conflict or a driver problem introduced by Sequoia.

I'm ready to pull all my data off and just install like it is a new computer. But not sure if that would solve the problem and just forcing a back up every week by hand would be workable for me. Not ideal, but for now, probably costs me less time than going all out and reinstalling everything.

Any thoughts?
