Why this MacBook Air didn't start when the lid was lifted is unclear.
Additionally, the MacBook Air Getting Started Guide:
it starts by just opening the lid. If it doesn’t respond then battery will most likely be out of charge. Use the charging cable and should come to life. I had same issue a couple of days ago with newly purchased 2022 model.

Battery dead I suppose as it is a ‘new’ 2022 model that probably been lying on a shelf for a couple of years. Worked fine after a wee charge up. 👍🏼
