No box to reply to specific group text

There is a group of 3 specific people that I can get a text from. Initially I can reply. After a short while the reply box where I would type text to reply disappears. I delete the group and start over again and the same thing happens. I have tried several things like disconnecting from WiFi and disabling messages. None of that works. This started with the upgrade to IOS 18. I have a 13 max pro. It’s always this same group that this happens to. Can someone please provide a fix beyond what I mentioned.
