iPod 5 disabled - unable to connect to iTunes

Goodnight, I have an iPod 5 which I use all the time and recently disabled it by an accident. It says I have to connect to iTunes and every time I try, it says how the iPod is not updated so I cannot un disable it. Please help me figure out how to un disable it. ( Also, I do not want to wipe it)
