Me too. Totally useless feature for me which I want to disable. To that end, I’ve watched several YouTube videos, where techie people are showing you how to use this visual intelligence feature… But none (literally no one) shows us how to DISABLE the feature. This is profoundly annoying.
Here’s copy paste of the comments I make in those videos:
Hi, You showed us how to use the “Visual Intelligence” feature, but you didn’t explain how to disable it.
I disabled Apple Intelligence for the Camera app, but this Visual Intelligence feature still turns on when I press the camera side button.
I want the side button to launch the regular camera so I can take pictures and videos quickly. This was the reason I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro Max from the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Please help.

Nope still a problem. Useless feature
Same here. Also how to opt out of this iOS 18.2 "feature". I don't want to use "AI" to look at the world around me.
This is a serious downgrade. Before I could hold the new Camera Control to take a video quickly. Now it has this absolutely useless "AI" feature I didn't ask for. Should I downgrade to iOS 18.1?
This is a great review. I have the 14 and I love to read them before I update or upgrade. I believe they address this issue in the latest update, but of course I haven’t yet, however, visual intelligence is listed, which led me here. Thanks and you’re welcome.
So, to activate Visual Intelligence it’s a long press of Camera button. A press and release opens the camera.
Please follow this path,
iPhone > Settings > Accessibility > Camera Control > experiment with the speed and firmness required. No one setting will work for every user.
Since Visual Intelligence on iPhone 16 models with the Camera Capture Button is tied into Apple Intelligence, you would need to turn off Apple Intelligence. Or......don't long press the Camera Capture button, which won't bring up Visual Intelligence. With your phone open one short press of the Camera Capture button will open your camera. A long press on the Camera Capture button, brings up an animation where the button is to let you know you have opened Visual Intelligence. Either remove Apple Intelligence from your phone or don't long press the capture button are your two choices.
It’s only those with iPhone 16’s having this issue. Visual Intelligence is activated through the Camera button exclusive to iPhone 16 models.
Have you resolved your Visual Intelligence issue? If not, post a reply and I can help you through the steps.
