mp4 and .mov files show new filetype "FileTypeGroup447"
What is happening? Both in finder and FCPX .mov files and .mp4 files have changed file type to "FileTypeGroup447" totally insane.

In Finder, Mine says MPEG-4 Movie or Quicktime Movie
Where are you seeing that?
Did you install some type of movie player app? Maybe it has taken control of those file types.
