Command F2 Fn function not working

I am trying to use my late model 2014 iMac as a display for my new MacBook Pro, but when I press command F2 fn with my full keyboard (numeric model) it is not doing anything.

Running Big Sur Version 11.7.10. Won't update to anything greater.

Can you please help?

Thank you! Caleb

There is no way to use your iMac as a first-class hardware monitor for your MacBook Pro.

There are “workaround” products, which may involve compromises. One is Luna Display (by AstroPad). Another is Duet Display (“subscription”, a.k.a. rental, software).

Appreciate you! Any way to get a 5k monitor display without breaking the bank?

I only know of three standalone 27" 5K (5120x2880 pixel) monitors.
