Podcasts show read even when they haven't been read

After the update to 18.0 when I am using the podcast app I find that when I finish a podcast it automatically tees up another podcast. If I decide not to listen then and close it out, it marks it as listened to and when I reopen it says Play again. This did not happen until this update. It used to wait until I had finished it before it marked it listened to. It really makes it hard to figure out where I stand on listening to all the podcasts I like.
