I would like to play music on my homepod but a podcast on my ipad simultaneously

When I am playing music on my HomePod (controlled by my ipad) I can’t then play a podcast on my ipad because it tries to replace the music on the HomePod with a podcast instead. Ie. I want one device playing music while I also listen to a podcast on my ipad.

Please do not respond with “why do you want to do this?” type answers. I just do. I can play music on my 20 year old home hifi and listen to a podcast on my iPad simultaneously so I don’t see why using Apple devices should take away this simple functionality.
