Both iOS 18.0 and 18.1 updates have used up my cellular data allowances when I had good wi-fi connection. Is there any way that cellular can be switched off only for these big iOS updates, or any way that I could at least be warned that cellular is used when on wi-fi? Or do I just have to remember to disconnect cellular every time I do an update?

This is also happening to me. Toggling WiFi-Assist on/off has no effect. My iPhone keeps using cellular data even when connected to WiFi. Now I'm close to reaching my carrier fast data limit for the month!

Thanks, useful information, but it does not seem to be what has happened here. I’ve checked and Wi-fi assist is off and wi-fi is good.
My iphone is doing the same thing and it began this morning when i updated to the latest version. My phone keeps changing to cellular data even when my wifi assist is turned off

Plug your phone to power source so it stays connected to wifi.

I’m seeing same kind of issues. Wi-fi assist is off, and still I am finding seeing issues. Burned thru fist month mostly due to WiFi assist being on by default and turned off but still see data use when I know I’m on strong wifi.
It was plugged into power source.
