AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Test fails with "Unable to classify due to background noise" error.

Hearing test keeps stopping stating it is unable to classify due to background noise. The only noise is me breathing! I've tried four times now and can't get through one ear without the test stopping at 75% finished.

Same....I've taken it maybe 6 times now and keep getting unable to classify. Giving up as there must be a bug or something.

IT WORKS. As I learned from another person who posted, there is a simple way to pass the hearing test. Put the AirPods in "Noise Cancellation" mode prior to taking the test. I mentioned this before but I guess people don't read the comments. It will work the first time if you change the mode to Noice Cancellation. I'm surprised the Apple people don't know this!!!

Using the Mimi Hearing app and inputing the readout into Apple Health was a great tip in this thread - it worked for me first time after several failed attempts in the Apple app and I was able to successfully use my Airpod Pro 2's as a hearing aide immediately. It was wild to listen to the TV and turn them on and off - everything was significantly clearer.

Same here on iPhone 13 and 18.2 OS. Everything is updated and rebooted the phone. I’ve tried 8 times in different rooms. One time it told me to clean the AirPod Pro 2s but they’re brand new with nothing on them. Spatial test passed after changing tips to fit so nonissues there.

Disappointed like everyone else. This feature doesn’t work as advertised and misleading. It’s why I bought these over others.

Same problem here. I bought these AirPods specifically to do the hearing test and use them with this feature. I’ve been in an absolutely completely silent place—at 4:00 am in the morning, and I get the message unable to classify the results. After 20+ times, I give up. Apple, please fix this or refund my money.

A few solutions have been suggested here. One of them was to use a different hearing test. Mimi worked for me, downloadable from the App Store. The hearing test...indeed, any hearing test formatted to be read digitally... serves as the basis for the hearing aid set up. It gets you started and you can adjust from there to make the hearing aids more useful to a given situation.

I almost quit too, but the workaround test was key. Try it if you have not been able to make Apple's test work.

Same as everyone else, could not get past the left ear test, very frustarting as this is why I bought them!

I did try the Mimi Hearing test, ,no probem, and very similar test, but then could not figure out how to send that data to the pods.

Finally saw something in Utilities that let you scan results from another test. I scanned the chart and it worked!

Ridiculous we have go thru this for an Apple product, but it worked!
