That's almost certainly not a malware issue. Try just restarting it, if you haven't done so already. Then if that doesn't help, and updating to iOS 18.1, just released today, doesn't help either, then restoring to factory settings might fix it. If you do try restoring, I'd first suggest that you restore without using a backup, just in case there's a corruption in a background file that would come back from the backup, and work with the iPhone for a while and see if the problem is corrected. If it is, then you can if you wish try restoring using a backup.

Regards.

iPhone malware is pretty rare. Whether this is malware usually involves your worth as a target, too.

A reset usually clears malware, but the folks using espionage tools can then re-target the iPhone.

Other and more mundane causes are more common.

Your response has not addressed his question for which I and likely many others have the same question.

Sluggish and warm can quite commonly mean the iPhone is busy with some activity such as Spotlight indexing, or some app has gotten busy in the background, or it might mean the battery is failing.

What is the battery health percentage, as a starting point?

Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Maximum Capacity

A battery more than roughly years old, or 80% or less can means the iPhone is headed for a battery replacement.

Can this be malware? Sure. But an iPhone that is simply busy with a buggy app or a re-indexing or such, or with a degrading battery, is far more common.
