Cannot set text size/font/colour in Photos for iOS

  • iPhone SE (MMXG3QL/A) 64 GB
  • iOS 17.5.1
  • issue: continuous

Since updating to iOS 17.5.1, while adding a text to a picture in the Photos app editing section, I've been experiencing what seems to be a bug: when tapping on the "text edit" pop-up menu to set the text colour/font/size, the setting panel only appears for a split second, then disappears, making the task impossible. Therefore I currently can only add black 60p Arial text to any photo, either taken with iPhone or imported.

This seems to be a real problem, and it's been reported by lots of people. The thing is, even though many folks have reported problems, Markup works fine for me and for many others. Some people have reported that with two phones in their family, one works and the other doesn't. The differences occur even with the same camera model, the same operator, and the same OS. There's probably nothing that we can do differently with our phones to fix it.

This is going to make it a crazy problem to solve.
