imessages on sequoia 15.0.1 not syncing or sending

macbook air (m2, 2022) was recently updated to sequoia, as well as iphone. iphone is working fine, but suddenly messages on imessage aren't sending—they load for forever and then i get a send failure alert. additionally when i do text from my phone, it's not updating on mac, so i know there's some sort of syncing issue as well

i was asked within system settings to re-log into my apple id for certain services, which i did do, and shortly after messages were able to send from mac, but after a brief period of time the problem re-presented itself and the prompt to log into my apple id hasn't reappeared (i've checked)

also, i know the network connectivity is fine, i'm posting this from my computer without issue

any ideas?
