Missing option when attempting to send Delayed Messages

iPad Pro 12.9 inch, 6th generation, purchased March 2023

iOS 18.0.1

i want to schedule a delayed text message. I have looked up instructions in the online iPad User Guide. Here is the reference:

however, when I tap the ‘+’ and scroll down the list to tap ‘Send later’, there is no option ‘send later’.

I tried turning my iPad off then back on. Still did not work.

I checked to ensure that my software is updated. It is updated to the latest software.

I searched for updates in the App Store. There are no new updates available.

I checked my settings but found no settings under the messages, general, or any other settings.

can someone help me?
