Is Airplay 2 spatial audio available for non Apple devices?

Sonos just told me that: « Although Apple have upgraded AirPlay 2 to support Atmos audio, they have not extended that support to work with non-Apple devices, just as with 5.1 audio before it. For us to support Atmos over AirPlay, Apple would need to allow it first ». Is that true ?

Airplay and Naim Unity Atom After having bought my Naim Unity Atom I have listened to music through my Mac Mini and iPad Air with the Airplay connection without any problems. Then a week ago Airplay was lost both on the Mac Mini and iPad. The only change has been the Mini OS update to Sonoma ten days ago. Bluetooth connection works.

Streaming Apple Music via Airplay 2 - lossless (ALAC) or not? There is just so much contrary and (perhaps deliberately) obfuscating material out there, but it should be a simple answer to a simple question: can an Apple device (iOS, Mac OS or TV OS) stream lossless Apple Music ALAC via an Airplay 1 or 2 device so that device itself outputs an ALAC lossless stream to an external DAC? It would be beyond ludicrous if I can listen to lossless via my iPad or iPhone’s internal speakers (feel that bass!) but not output wirelessly to an Airplay device eg Apple TV and/ or any number of streamers/ connected amplifiers.
