NY Times "The Daily" podcast downloading as .movpkg files

The NYT recently put their podcast, "The Daily" behind a paywall.

I have subscription but for some reason all the podcasts are now downloading as .movpkg files.

What is happening here?

Podcast not downloading automatically I have all of my podcasts set to download automatically. Most of them do, except for New York Times: The Daily. Though it's set to download automatically, it won't download until I go to Library / Shows / The Daily; then, it will start automatically downloading. Unwanted podcasts showing up in Listen Now This started a couple of weeks ago. In the Listen Now section of the podcast app, under the Up Next header, I'm getting episodes for podcasts I'm not subscribed to nor have ever been subscribed to. I may have listened to one or two episodes from the podcasts, but I never subscribed, and I never relistened to the episodes. Usually, episodes I download are removed after I've listened to them. But now I'm bombarded with episodes for every single podcast I've ever listened to. Which is really annoying. How can I get the podcast app to stop doing this?

What browser are you using to download these files?

I've had a similar issue with recordings downloading as a very bizarre format in Chrome.

Apple Support recommended using Safari instead, and that worked.
