Garmin Nüvi 2699 is not recognized by Sequoia. I have to initialize the hard disk in it. >No way.

If you mean the internal mass storage, Garmin says expressly not to do that or you'll render the unit inoperable.
When I connect on the Garmin now, after the Sequoia update, the message appears:
Drive you connected, can't be read by this computer. Delete, ignore, or initialize.
This applies to both the internal storage and the SD card
